Jim
Cokas
Jim has been an artist and designer for over 30 years. His
academic background includes an undergraduate degree in art,
plus two graduate degrees - an MA in photography and an MFA
in design. He has taught both design and photography (upper
and lower division courses) at several Universities and Colleges
in Southern California. While he enjoys teaching immensely,
his main passion is creating, both as an artist and a designer.
As an artist Jim's work (photography, mixed media and sculpture)
has been exhibited nationally at numerous venues over the
past several decades. As a design professional he has successfully
completed hundreds of challenging assignments ranging from
logo development to posters, brochures, web sites, displays
and interpretive exhibits. The design Jim practices is a complex
process that integrates the tangible (verbal and visual assets)
and the intangible (attributes, emotions, objectives and philosophies)
to express a specific vision. It requires research, analysis,
exploration and imagination. Jim is attracted to projects
that have the potential to educate, inspire and endure. While
his clients include both public and private entities, Jim
prefers to focus on the non-profit and public sectors. Museums,
Universities, Science Centers, Fine and Performing Arts Organizations,
Parks Departments (National, State and County) are among his
favorite clients. A partial list of clients and projects include
(but are not limited to):
o
Yosemite National Park - Parsons Lodge Historic Exhibits,
