A recently produced nature tourism marketing plan for the Fallon, Reno and Carson City, Nevada region won a prestigious 2005 "Excellence In Tourism" award given out annually by the Nevada Commission on Tourism. Rich with wildlife and natural areas, the area is bounded by the Sierra Nevada Mountains to the west, the Stillwater National Wildlife Refuge to the east, Pyramid Lake to the north and the Carson Valley to the south.
